A hidden park which has become a camping ground for derelicts who left used condoms and drug needles is on course for a transformation said Corporation of Hamilton Secretary Roger Sherratt.
He hopes the renovation of Cedar Park in Beacon Street will be ready within two months.
Workers have begun lowering the park to make it more accessible.
Mr. Sherratt said its discrete nature had attracted undesirables.
"Neighbourhood children found used drug needles and condoms and rummies with plastic tents.
"I went there once at six o'clock in the morning and found 18 people there asleep. It wasn't a very pleasant place to visit."The Corporation plans to put in endemic trees.
