Olive Louise Bean, one of the earliest female musicians to perform in a Bermuda band, passed away last weekend at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

An accomplished pianist, Mrs. Bean was 88. The former wife of Sydney Bean, also an accomplished musician, Mrs. Bean thrived during Bermuda's big band era and launched her career as the pianist for Ernie Leader. She also led her own musical ensemble.
