Police hunt large bike-jacking gang
A large gang of bike-jackers beat up a man in Front Street, Police said yesterday.
The victim suffered a gash to his head and eye.
It is the latest in a spate of recent bike-jacking incidents.
The latest incident occurred at about 12 a.m. on Sunday. Police said a large group of youths were involved.
They rode up along side their victim and knocked him off his cycle.
They beat him up around his head and body before stealing the bike.
A week earlier, a 53-year-old was attacked on the corner of Court Street and Victoria Street.
He needed hospital treatment after being kicked in the head and body.
He also lost his cycle.
Similar attacks have been happening for months along South Road in Devonshire and in Paget according to Police.
On June 23, Jay Tucker and two men on another bike got into a kicking fight as they rode by Botanical Gardens. Tucker eventually dropped his bike thinking he would have to fight the two.
His Yamaha V50 was stolen.
Simon Brooks was also hauled off of a Yamaha V50 at 8 p.m. along Pitts Bay Road last Monday, suffering a sprained ankle and grazed knee.
