Police in riot gear called out to Paget Ice Queen
Police in riot gear were reportedly alerted following weekend violence at the Paget Ice Queen. One of the youths involved carried a knife, say witnesses.
The Royal Gazette understands the fight broke out some time after 3 a.m. with two youths, one with an American accent, attacking a third.
One of the two attackers pulled what appeared to be a kitchen knife and attempted to stab the victim, but missed. The attackers failed to connect with several punches as well.
A bystander alerted Police who arrived at the crowded Paget Plaza within a minute in full riot gear, a van, two cars and two paddywagons.
Two of the offenders sped by them in a car, driving out through the one-way entrance to the Plaza.
Although Police had no details of the Ice Queen incident a spokesperson confirmed that they did respond to an emergency call from the Paget spot.
Police media spokesperson Robin Simmons said that while en route, the officers spotted a bike being driven erratically. They pulled the rider over on Berry Hill Road and discovered he had a fresh wound over his left eye.
The 19-year-old Warwick man told Police he had just been jumped by a group of men while at Ice Queen. Police escorted him to the hospital for treatment, but he refused to make a complaint.
A witness, however, did not believe the19 year old could not have been the victim in the fight he saw.
Two men have been arrested after a Front Street stabbing in the early hours of yesterday.
A fight took place outside the Number One shed at around 12.30 a.m. and the man was stabbed in his upper shoulder. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.
