Police officers complete enhanced training

From learning the latest handcuff techniques to developing skills in conflict resolution, 11 Police officers have successfully completed an intensive recruit training course.

Officers also earned awards for their performance at the 16-week Recruit Foundation Course 64.

Police spokesman Robin Simmons said the Bermuda Police Service was pleased to welcome the 11 new recruits to the team.

Jennifer Spurling, was named the most outstanding female recruit and has received the Instructor?s Cup. The most outstanding male recruit, Cassius Fevriere, also earned the Instructor?s Cup.

Shanee Strong earned an academic award for her performance and Meisha Easton received a certificate of achievement. Graham Robinson won the Mylod Cup.

Police officers Richard Lathan, Cassius Fevriere, Tina Okereke, Jennifer Spurling, Shanee Strong, and Mark Lewis are all members of the Green Syndicate and winners of the Commissioner?s Shield. Donawin Mallory and Odessa Phillip also earned the distinction of completing the course.

The officers went through 16 weeks of training in law and Police procedure, officer safety and self-defence techniques. They also tested their ability to apply their knowledge in realistic policing situations.
