Police release name of landscaper killed in accident
A landscaper who was killed after falling and being hit by a large branch from a tree he was helping to lop in Fairylands on Monday has been named as Joao Antonio Vital of the Azores.
The 34-year-old died of his injuries while pruning a row of casuarina trees in the garden of a house on Fairylands Road, near Point Shares bridge around 2.10 p.m.
Mr. Vital was part of a team of workers from Island Construction and Landscaping Services who were cutting back the trees when he fell and a large branch fell on top of him.
He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance in an unresponsive state and was pronounced dead by an on call physician at 2.42 p.m.
The Bermuda Police Service has extended its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Vital.
