Police responding to mysterious Sandys incidents come out empty handed

Police responded to two reports of suspicious activity in Sandys this weekend ? including a report that a man had been stabbed ? only to find no victims, perpetrators or witnesses when they arrived on the scene.

On Saturday at about 9.20 p.m. the Police Support Unit (PSU) attended a reported disturbance at White Hill field. On arrival, officers patrolled the Railway Trail in search of suspects, after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed.

But neither suspects nor the alleged victim were located, according to Police spokesman Dwayne Caines. Police then monitored the main entrance and patrolled the field.

Although there was still a large crowd present, no further disturbances or individuals with weapons were observed.

Officers also made checks at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for the victim, but found no injuries which might have matched reports.

Police returned to the area at roughly 10.50 p.m. on Saturday, following a reported disturbance outside Maximart on Middle Road.

Again, however, on arrival neither the suspects nor the alleged victim were located. Police stayed in the area to monitor the large crowd leaving White Hill field following a Majorette competition.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010. ?We are especially interested in speaking to anyone who may have been filming/video-taping the Majorette competition at the time of the incident,? Mr. Caines said.
