Police see links in robberies
Police are linking three incidents of attempted robbery or robbery which took place within a two-mile radius on Tuesday night.
In the first incident, three robbers attempted to run a man off the road after he refused their demands for gas and cash.
Just after 8p.m. on Tuesday, the victim was riding his bike home from work along North Shore Road near Terceira's Gas Station when he was approached by three dark skinned males also on bikes.
One made demands for money and gas, but the victim refused.
The would-be robbers then attempted to knock the victim off his bike and run him off the road and followed him home where neighbours helped chase away the suspects.
At around 8.30 p.m., an attempted robbery took place in the parking lot of the Aquarium. A tourist claims he was approached by three black males on two bikes who began to intimidate him by stealing his soda and one of the men kicked him in the thigh.
They then went through his cycle basket before throwing the soda bottle at him, narrowly missing, before leaving the scene.
While at 10.20 p.m., Police were called to Shelly Bay Pizza House after a complainant said he was approached by five males who hassled him for cigarettes before attacking him and stealing his wallet.
A Police spokesman said: “All three of these incidents obviously have taken place in a two-mile radius. We are not ruling out the possibility that these may be the same culprits in all three cases.
“We are asking if anyone has any information about these incidents to please contact their respective Police stations on 295 0011.”
Police also issued a description of two of the three males from the Aquarium incident. One was a black male, about 6ft and 160lb wearing a white shirt and blue jeans while the second man is described only as black, 5ft 4ins and of medium build.
