A pregnant Pembroke woman was charged in Magistrates' Court yesterday with striking her eight-year old son with a belt.

The 31-year-old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denied the charge of unlawful assault causing bodily harm in January.

In yesterday's proceedings she asked to be tried in Magistrates' Court. Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves released her on $350 bail until her trial on July 29.
