Premier Jennifer Smith is being honoured in recognition of her political achievements and dedication to the arts.

Premier Jennifer Smith is set to receive an honorary degree tomorrow from her alma mater, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. The degree will be in recognition of her political achievements and dedication to the arts. Premier Smith, who is also scheduled to make the keynote address to this year's graduating class, will be the first-ever recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from the Art Institute. During the commencement ceremony, the Premier will receive her doctoral degree from the Art Institute's president, George Pry. "The Art Institute will bestow this historic degree on Premier Smith because we believe in a future without boundaries for each of our graduates,'' Mr. Pry said. "Premier Smith is a living testament to our theory of graduate success"

Following the presentation of her doctoral degree, Ms Smith will deliver the commencement address to an audience of over 1,000 attendees, including graduates and their families as well as the institute's faculty and staff. "(The) Premier values the importance of art and art education, which is evident throughout her artistic career and through her her work with The Bermuda National Gallery and The Masterworks Foundation," Mr. Pry said.

She will be accompanied by her chief of staff, Senator David Burch.
