Probe continues into teacher?s death
The pathologist report into the sudden death of a teacher in Spanish Point has been filed, and the case is still not being treated as suspicious by detectives.understands that although Police investigations are officially ongoing because of the sudden nature of Michael Smith?s death, the incident is not being treated as suspicious in the wake of information outlined in the forensic report.
Pathologist Dr. Michael Pollanen, flew in from Toronto, Canada, on Friday morning to carry out post mortem tests.
Police are now liasing with the Coroner so a public inquest can be held. A probe was launched after Mr. Smith, a popular primary school reading teacher, was found dead outside his Hill Crescent house, Pembroke, on December 21.
Police are still looking for information as they try and piece together the final hours of Mr. Smith?s life.
People who saw Mr. Smith drinking on the night before his death have been contacted as part of the investigation. He was last seen alive at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 20. Anyone with information should call 299-4315 or 295-0011.
