Progress being made at new bus terminal

Progress is being made at the new Hamilton bus terminal, according to the Works and Engineering Ministry.

"The Central Bus terminal is progressing steadily," Ministry spokeswoman Nea Talbot said. "There are structures currently being erected including the ticket office building as well as the South canopy which, once completed, are designed to cover the buses."

In March, Works and Engineering Minister Ashfield DeVent announced that the cost of the new bus terminal had gone up by half a million dollars while the completion date has been put back.

The new Hamilton hub will now cost $2.9 million and is expected to be ready this summer after originally being scheduled for a March completion.

"We are seeking a mid to late summer completion date for the project, however, the project technical officers are pleased with the progress to date," Ms. Talbot said.
