Reckless rider jailed after driving at Police

A reckless teenager is today behind bars after riding his motorcycle straight at Police ? before getting embroiled in a foul-mouthed chase with officers.

Justin Mark Talbot told Police: ?I will chop you the f*** up?, when they caught up with him after he evaded arrest and raced off.

Talbot, 18, was jailed on Friday for a total of three months after admitting a string of offences that took place on September 14.

Crown Counsel Wayne Caines told Magistrates? Court that traffic officers were carrying out speed checks in Smith?s when they were alerted to a cream-coloured Honda scooter.

As the bike approached Harrington Sound Road they stepped into the road, but Talbot ?continued riding straight at the officer and refused to stop?.

Mr. Caines added: ?The officer had to step out of the road to avoid a collision.?

A chase started and the court heard when the defendant ? who works as a junior mason ? reached a sharp left-hand bend he went straight across the road, and almost collided with a car.

Mr. Caines said Talbot finally came to a halt and when taken into custody asked: ?Why the f*** are you stopping me??

Warned about his language, the defendant responded: ?F*** you?.

When the officer took hold of the teenager?s hand, Talbot broke free and took off on foot towards Tucker?s Point.

The court heard that after a short chase the defendant, of Talbot Lane, Smith?s, was stopped but was ?lashing out at the officer with his hands?. After a brief struggle, he told police: ?I will chop you the f*** up.?

Talbot admitted failing to stop for Police, driving without due care and attention and driving without a licence and insurance.

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a Police officer, using threatening words, escaping from custody and resisting arrest.

He was jailed for a total of three months and ordered to pay $2,100.
