A review of a drug trafficking money laundering investigation, which was the subject of a missing submission to the 2000 Serious Crimes Commission of Inquiry, has been completed, acting Governor Tim Gurney said.

“A recommendation has been made by the investigating officer... a decision has to be taken on whether or not further action has to be taken,” said Mr. Gurney.

Government House had requested that the Police Commissioner take another look at the file after allegations of a political cover-up by the commissioners.

There has been no official explanation of what happened to the submission.

“We have certainly tried to find it but we were unable to identify it amongst the papers that the commission left but subsequently a copy was provided to Government House which was forwarded to the proper authority for further examination,” said Mr. Gurney.
