A 20-year-old Royal Navy sailor is due to appear in court today to face weapons possession charges.

The mechanic is serving on board the Royal Navy submarine HMS which arrived in Bermuda on Saturday.

A Police spokesman confirmed that on Saturday, some of the sub's crew members went to the Wyndham Bermuda Resort and Spa. It was there that the weapon ? a pellet gun ? was discovered by a chambermaid who alerted the Police.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said the crew member was arrested on Sunday afternoon. He will appear during the 10 a.m. session of plea court today.
