Saying thank you to the Island?s teachers
?Every time I stand up to speak I think of this lady telling me to not split my infinitives.?
Premier Alex Scott thanked Merle Brock Swan Williams yesterday for her hard work and patience as a teacher during a special teacher appreciation luncheon at Camden House.
Mr. Scott was joined by Cabinet ministers who had each invited the teacher that inspired them the most when they were in school.
Minister Ashfield De Vent said a big thank you to Aurelia Burch, Dale Butler chose Eloise Furbert, Senator Larry Mussenden chose Barbara Fullerton, Neletha Butterfield chose Georgina Hill, Patrice Minors? favourite teacher was Robert Horton, Randy Horton chose Elizabeth Kawaley, Paula Cox chose Janet Nearon, Walter Lister chose Rose Philpott, Michael Scott chose Rosanne Swainson and Terry Lister?s favourite teacher was Dalton Tucker.
Mr. Lister said Mrs. Tucker was the principal of Southampton Glebe during his final year at her school and he always appreciated her guidance and encouragement which helped him become the man he is today.
While Michael Scott said Mrs. Swainson?s dedication and commitment to him as one of her pupils instilled in him the life skills he needed to succeed in life.
?I just wanted to thank her for her guidance, love and dedication,? he said.
