Ship diverts after medical alert
A 35-year-old American man who suffered a heart attack is in a stable condition in intensive care after cruise ship The Carnival Legend diverted to Bermuda yesterday morning to drop him off.
The man was stretchered onto a pilot boat about five miles off the east of the island and then rushed to hospital. The Carnival Legend then continued its journey from the British Virgin Islands to New York.
Jetskiers pulled from water
Four jetskiers were pulled from the water after their craft began sinking near St. David's yesterday afternoon. Harbour Radio got a panicky call for help from a female. A spokesman said: “There were gurgling, bubbling sounds. They were obviously in the water.”
The four, who were wearing life jackets, spent about ten minutes in the water before pleasure craft Hobo picked them up and toed the leaking jetski into harbour.
