Hilary Soares has been appointed as clinical director of women?s drug rehab centre Fair Havens.

A registered nurse, Mrs. Soares helped to found cancer charity PALS, hospice Agape House and the Bermuda Stroke Association.

She will do six weeks intensive training with Bellwood Health Services in Toronto who are assisting with programme oversight, clinical supervision, staff training and the goal of accreditation.

Some Fair Havens clients will be referred to Bellwood which has 60 years of treatment experience.

?I am absolutely delighted to be part of a team to facilitate a brand new programme to bring the team together so we can co-ordinate a programme for the benefit of all clients who come to Fair Havens.?

Mrs. Soares said her approach will emphasise follow-up care and support. She also aims to measure the success of the programme with statistics that make the success rate public to donors and the community. One of her goals is to work with community referrals from doctors, family members of drug addicts and helping agencies.
