TB, Cancer & Health offers ultrasound treatment
The Bermuda TB Cancer & Health Association is now offering ultrasound treatment for breast screening and other diagnostic uses.
The non-profit organisation announced the new treatment as it marks its first anniversary at its state-of-the-art facility on Point Finger Road.
It has seen a rise in the number of patients since moving from Cedar Avenue. According a Press release issued yesterday, this was due to an increased awareness of the importance of screening and early detection for helping save lives.
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in women between 40 and 55.
Association President Judy Simons said: ?Our community is becoming more aware of the importance of prevention and early detection of all types of cancer because the number of patients we see for mammograms has increased since we moved.
?We are also seeing a heightened awareness of osteoporosis and an increase in patient numbers for bone density testing.?
Ultrasound can be used full range of diagnostic screening including obstetrics, abdomen, pelvic and vascular. The organisation also has a full-time ultrasound technician and radiologist.
?Bermuda TB Cancer & Health Association has made every effort to eliminate barriers and provide early access to essential screening resources,? said Mrs. Simons.
