Trail date set for Cooper twins murder accused

Kenneth Jermaine Burgess and Dennis Alma Robinson will face charges of murdering twins Jahmal and Jahmil Cooper in the Supreme Court in January, 2006.

The pair, who are represented by Victoria Pearman and Queen's counsel Courtney Griffiths, yesterday denied murdering Jahmal and Jahmil Cooper on March 13 in Devonshire this year.

Appearing before Puisne Judge Ian Kawaley yesterday during the monthly arraignment session, the pair were under heavy guard by more than three Police Officers and Prison Officers. Their trail will start on January 4.

In other cases, convicted rapist Rohan Richards, 30, appeared before Mr. Justice Kawaley but could not be sentenced by the court until a social inquiry report was completed. He will appear again in court for mention on September 1.

Allan William Daniels, who was found not guilty of the attempted murder of a Police officer by a Supreme Court jury in May also appeared in the court to be sentenced for possession of a firearm. Daniels, 26, of Brooklyn Lane, Pembroke pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm, maintaining throughout the trial that the weapon had fallen out of his coat pocket when he was apprehended. He will be sentenced on August 26.

Winston Wellington Burgess will appear in the courts for mention on August 11 as a social inquiry report has yet to be completed.

Denzil David Simmons, who is unrepresented did not appear in the court yesterday with his co-accused Densworth Edwin Darrell. Darrell, who is represented by Larry Scott pleaded guilty to two counts of stealing and two of robbery. Darrell was charged with robbing Carl Johnson of money on March 15 and using personal violence, and for robbing Satrina Jennings on March 19 with personal violence. He pleaded guilty to stealing money from Ray Juan's Intimate Lingerie on March 16 and for stealing money from Watlington Waterworks on March 14. Darrell will be sentenced tomorrow.

Yesterday, seven new cases came before the courts.

There were four cases of breaking and entering, a grievous bodily harm charge, sexual relations with a minor and firearm related charges.

Felicia Sasha Renee Harris, 17 of Sayle Road, Smiths pleaded not guilty to one count of grievous bodily harm.

Harris has been charged with wounding with the intent to do grievous bodily harm to Ariaa Marshall on July 2. The alleged incident happened aboard the MV Bermudian on a BermyNet booze cruise.

Harris' trial will begin on January 3, 2006.

A 38-year-old Pembroke man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to two counts of carnal knowledge of a girl between fourteen and sixteen years of age.

The first incident allegedly occurred between March 1 and March 18 2004 while the second allegedly occurred between March 17 and March 31 of the same year. The man will appear for mention in arraignment court on October 3.

Jason Devon Dill pleaded not guilty to one count of possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, serious assault and violently resisting arrest. Dill, 20 of Frog Lane, Devonshire allegedly had in his possession a nine millimetre semi-automatic pistol and ammunition for the firearm.

He is also charged with assaulting Det. Con. Chris Sabean and violently resisting arrest on April 22.

Dill will appear for mention in arraignment court on October 3.

Jerkeyo David Berkeley pleaded not guilty to five counts related to robbery.

Berkeley, 26 of Alexandra Road, Devonshire is charged with two counts of robbery and entering a dwelling house with the intent to commit a felony on April 15, 2004. He is also charged with escaping from lawful custody on June 10 and attempting to pervert the course of justice on June 13.

Berkeley allegedly stole money, jewellery and a cellular phone. He will appear in arraignment court on October 3 for a trial date to be set.

Leon Sinclair Fough 31 of Coral Hill, Warwick pleaded not guilty to three counts of breaking and entering and one count of being armed with intent to commit a felony.

On May 9 Fough allegedly stole money and jewellery. He was also armed to commit a felony with a large chisel, pair of gloves and light.

Fough will appear in arraignment court on October 3 for a trial date to be set.

Ronald Raymond Wilson, 33 of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to two counts of breaking and entering, not guilty to stealing and guilty to receiving property unlawfully gained. Wilson has been charged with stealing a motor bike, money, jewellery and a laptop on May 16. Mr. Justice Kawaley ordered a social inquiry report and Wilson will be back in arraignment court for sentencing on October 3.

Dean Anthony O'Brien pleaded guilty of housebreaking with the intent to commit felony namely stealing.

O'Brien, 44, of no fixed abode allegedly committed the offence on May 17.

Mr. Justice Kawaley ordered a social inquiry report for the defendant. The case has been adjourned until October 3.
