Truck falls into yard
A Pembroke man relaxing at home was shocked yesterday when he heard a crash and discovered a truck had landed in his garden.
The Rambling Lane man, who did not wish to be named, said he heard a loud bang and went outside to find his neighbour?s truck had rolled over a bank and into his garden.
The man said his neighbour had forgotten to put the hand brake on when he left his truck, which rolled down the hill and on to his land.
While it was easy for the truck to land in the garden, it took more than five hours to get it out again.
It took a number of people made three attempts to lift the truck out of the garden. An HWP tow truck attempted to pull the truck out, but failed. A crane was then called in to lift the heavy vehicle, but refused because of fears that it would bring down overhanging power lines.
Eventually Belco was brought to the scene and switched the power off and the crane lifted the vehicle out of the garden and onto the street. No one was injured and the truck didn?t sustain any serious damage.
