UK Government experts to meet with Lister
British Government environment experts have been in Bermuda this week to give tips on how Bermuda can keep in line with the United Nation's Convention on Biodiversity.
The convention, signed by 180 countries, pledges to conserve biological diversity.
Governments must protect environmentally sensitive areas, rehabilitate degraded ecosystems and prevent the introduction of alien species.
Chris Allen and Jill Barrett from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office's Environment team have been talking with local officials to identify changes needed in programmes and legislation for Bermuda to comply with the fine print of the Convention's articles.
Mr. Allen will meet Environment Minister Terry Lister to discuss a joint charter on preserving the environment.
