United Bermuda Party opens job search for a new CEO
The Opposition United Bermuda Party (UBP) is looking for a new executive officer.
Chairwoman Gwyneth Rawlins said the post become vacant when Donna Heslop stepped down after the General Election, and it was hoped the position would be filled by the end of the year.
The advert stipulates that only Bermudians or spouses of Bermudians need apply and said interested applicants should possess a college degree, along with experience and expertise in supervisory management, preferably in an institutional office environment.
?Integrity, exemplary interpersonal and organisational skills are required in order to run the office and organise volunteers and because of the nature of this position, candidates should have an interest in the political process,? the advert stated.
The role of the executive officer will be to develop and implement plans to ensure active and effective branches in all constituencies; facilitate meetings and conferences; assist in the development of internal and external communications; ensure efficient operation of the central office, and assist the chairman and treasurer with the development and maintenance of the annual operating budget.
Ms Rawlins said, as far as she knew, the position had always been held by a Bermudian and the UBP was looking for a Bermudian now.
And she said the applicants certainly did not have to have any particular political allegiances, although an interest in politics would be beneficial.
?It?s more of an executive position, but, obviously, if someone has an idea of the political workings, it would be an asset because they will be working with the MPs, but it?s not essential,? said the chairwoman.
?We don?t really know what?s out there, so the reason we are advertising is to see what comes forward, but we are looking for a Bermudian, or the spouse of a Bermudian. The purpose of the ad is purely to find the best.?
The closing date for the job is November 24 and anyone interested should apply in writing to Carol Carvalho, Executemps Ltd., PO Box HM 1453, Hamilton, HM FX, enclosing a resume, two professional/character references and a covering letter.
