Voting changes

Premier Alex Scott has tabled a bill to allow postal voting for students, those on overseas secondments and people in hospital.

The bill cannot be put into law until the next session as Government seeks to consult the community and Opposition on proposed changes.

The proposed law will also change voting hours and allows licensed premises to be used as voting rooms. Returning officers and presiding officers will be allowed to vote at an advance poll.

The bill can be viewed on-line on the Government portal at www.gov.bm by typing ?ministries? and then ?cabinet office?. Questions can be emailed to wjonesgov.bm or posted to Assistant Cabinet Secretary Warren Jones.
