<Bt-4z38>Watts going on? Naomi is pregnant!

Q: I just saw a picture of actress Naomi Watts, and she looked heavier. Has she gained weight? — M.F.

A: Yes, indeed, but it’s not from overeating. Watts and boyfriend Liev Schreiber are expecting a baby, due late this summer.

Q: What happened to Amber Tamblyn? I like her TV show but haven’t seen her in anything lately. — A.S.

A:<$> The actress, formerly of the series Joan of Arcadia, has been making movies almost non-stop. Her upcoming schedule: a drama cad Normal Adolescent Behaviour, the thriller Spiral and the cdy Spring Breakdown<$>, with Parker Posey and Will Arnett. She’s currently filming another thriller called Bkout<$> and has another film lined up: The comedy SafeGlass<$>, with Mandy Moore.

Q: My favourite ad from the Super Bowl was the one with Oprah and David Letterman. Why did she agree to do it? —N.

A:<$> Apparently, she saw the humour and good PR in it (and, according to reports, Donald Trump and Rosie O’Donnell - Letterman’s first picks - turned it down). Letterman’s writers came up with the idea, and since Oprah, a Chicago resident, and Letterman, an Indiana native, obviously were pulling for different teams, it made sense to have the two do the spot together. And poking fun at what Letterman called a long estrangement between the two - when she refused to come on his show and he begged on air - worked. For many viewers, it was their favourite ad.

Q: I thought Prince was so fantastic in his Super Bowl set, but with all that rain, wasn’t it dangerous to perform? - M.H.

A: Placing all of that electrical equipment in the middle of rainstorm would seem to be very dangerous, but recent advances — particularly battery-powered wireless equipment — added a safety feature that didn’t exist when all devices were plugged into electrical outlets. With wireless microphones and guitars, performers don’t come into contact with electrical current . . . so they won’t be electrocuted, fonately.

Q: I thought musician Alicia Keys was very good in Smokin&17; Aces. Will she do any more movies? — J.F.

A:<$> Absolutely. She co-stars with Scarlett Johansson in The Nanny Diaries, due in theatres in April, and she is reportedly lobbying to voice the starring role of Mandy, a Southern girl living in New Orleans during the ‘20s, in Disney’s upcoming anima musical The Frog Princess.

Q: Actor Kiefer Sutherland is fantastic. Is he doing anytg besides 24? K.G.

A:<$> Apart from the plannedvie of 24<$>, he voices the role of another hero who fights the bad guys — this time dragons — in the upcoming animated Dragonlance: Dragons of AutuTwilight.

Q: What is actress Kirstie Alley doing? I always thought she was really funny. — N.H.

A:<$> She stars in an upcoming TV movie calleI>And She Was <$>and in a pilot for a Fox series called The Minister of Divine. It’s the US version of a Brit comedy called The vicar of Dibley. In it, she plays a woman with a wild past who returns to her small Southern town as a minister, eager to make amends for her past life. If it works out, it would be on the network’s fall schedule.

Q: What is actor Jeff Bridges doing? He’s one of my favourite— N.W.

A:<$> He stars with former Six Feet Under actress Lauren Ambrose in upcoming comedy A Dog Year<$>, lends his voice to the animateI>Surf’s Up <$>and is set to star in a sci-fi fantasy called The Giver. He’s also scheduled to begin filmithe superhero film Iron Man next month, opposite Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Q: Can you tell me what new movies actress Diane Lane is doing? — S.N.

A: She stars in an uping thriller called Killshot<$> and a sci-fi tller called Jumper<$>, opposite Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson. She’s also set to re-tewith her Unfaithful<$> co-star Richard Gere in the romantic da Nights in Rodanthe<$>, and to star in the thriller Untrable and the Western Appaloosa, opposite and directed by Ed Harris.

Q: I’m a huge fan of Stephen Colbert. Is it true that Ben & Jerry’s is making an ice cream for him? — L.K.

A: It’s possible. The ice-cream company, which famously honoured the late Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia with its Cherry Garcia flavour, is apparently looking into something to tie in with the comic conservativhom Colbert plays on his The Colbert Report<$>. The colours red, white and blue have been mentioned . . . but at this point, it’s just in the experimental stage.
