Welcome to the honeymooners? paradise ...
Bermuda has been voted the ?Best Honeymoon Island? by the readers of UK publication ?Caribbean World?.
The Department of Tourism was presented with the prestigious award at the10th Annual Caribbean World International Awards Ceremony, held in London?s Four Seasons Hotel last Monday night. Over 150 delegates from the travel and tourism industry attended the conference.
This is the first time Bermuda has been recognised by readers of Caribbean World. The awards, voted by the public, recognise the best facilities the Caribbean has to offer.
The ceremony is part of the World Travel Market, which is considered to be the most importance event in the UK?s travel trade calendar. This is the first time in over five years Bermuda is exhibiting in the Travel Market. Tourism director Cherie Whitter said the first two days at the four-day show have already proved a success, with meetings held with top UK tour operators, key airlines and national media representatives, including CNN.
The February launch of Bermuda?s UK/European marketing campaign has been followed up with more initiatives to ensure Bermuda remains in the minds of holidaymakers and travel tradespeople. A roadshow was held in the UK in May, and regular agent familiarisation trips have been carried out with top-selling tour operators.
?We are delighted to receive this award and are thrilled that Bermuda?s charms have been recognised in this way,? said junior Minister for Tourism Sen. Raymond Tannock, who accepted the award at the ceremony on Monday night.
