Youth to have their say at forum
Young people will be encouraged to take part in the upcoming General Election at a forum to be held in Hamilton tomorrow.
Organiser Gavin (Sundjata) Smith said the meeting would allow young people "to be organised as an effective lobbying body regardless of the outcome of the election".
"The aim of this forum is to highlight action plans already in place to promote the youth, as well as to open the door for future initiatives. It is hoped to provide a much needed insight into the roles that youth are playing in Bermuda's development."
He said: "There is a perception that young people are apathetic but this is far from reality. This generation of young people is the most dynamic that Bermuda has ever produced with youth excelling in fields ranging from arts, to business, to technology, to trades, sports and more. In spite of this, it has become apparent that concerns of the youth have yet to be adequately addressed by the Government.
"In light of this, the recent announcement of the general election, and the uncertainty surrounding the 'youth vote' we have embarked on providing an event to focus on in youth solutions."
The meeting will be held at St. Paul's Centennial Hall tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.
