Bank issues phishing warning
Fraudsters are attempting to pick up people's bank account details through an e-mail scam.
They have been sending messages posing as Customer Service at Bank of Bermuda and trying to con customers that their registration data has been lost.
Bank bosses are warning clients not to respond to the e-mail and say they are working with security authorities to disable the offending website.
"Bank of Bermuda is aware that some of our customers have received a fraudulent e-mail asking them to log on to a fraudulent website and provide personal financial information," said head of banking services Ashley Parker.
"The public should note that 'phishing' e-mails along with other fraudulent e-mails are constantly circulating. We would like to advise our customers that any requests received via e-mail to validate personal information should be declined.
"Under no circumstances would Bank of Bermuda send e-mails requesting customers to confirm debit/credit card numbers, account numbers along with their personal log on information."
Anyone who responded to the fraudulent e-mail and provided personal information should immediately contact the bank's call centre at 299-5959.
