Cable service restored in St. George's

Bermuda CableVision last night announced its service was finally restored in St. George's and St. David's following an outage caused by bad weather.

East End residents were without service for close to 48 hours after a tree crushed fibre optics at Coney Island and Ferry Road at 9.30 p.m. on Monday.

General manager Terry Roberson said in a press statement released shortly before 7 p.m.: "We're very pleased to inform our customers that cable has been restored in St. George's and St. David's.

"We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience that this cable outage has caused and would like to thank our technicians for working long hours in the difficult weather conditions."

The return to normal service could not come quickly enough for a number of customers, who contacted The Royal Gazette to complain they were missing their favourite shows.

Customers facing difficulty with any channels should turn their cable box off and unplug it from the television. Once it is plugged back in and turned back on, all channels should work properly.

People still facing problems should call CableVision. Refunds will be made in lieu of the outage.
