A man was fined $1,000 in Magistrates' Court after admitting to possessing cannabis, cannabis seeds and a piece of equipment used in connection with the drug.

The court heard that La Vince Arol Ellis, 35, of Middle Road, Warwick was approached by Police for another matter on March 16, when they observed his breath smelt like recently burned weed.

Ellis was cautioned and admitted to having cannabis on him including a clear plastic twist containing 0.56 grams of the drug, a partly burned hand-rolled cigarette, a grinder containing cannabis resin and a small ziplock bag containing 1.41 grams of seeds.

The court heard that Ellis is known for similar offences, before he was fined and given until October 5 to pay.
