A car toppled over an embankment and nearly went into the sea when its driver lost control around 3.30 a.m on Saturday.

The incident happened on Middle Road in Southampton.

A Police spokesman said: "It appears that the car was traveling east on Middle Road when the driver, a 26 year-old-Sandy's parish man lost control, causing the vehicle to go over an embankment and end up near the water.

"The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene. The driver was extracted from the vehicle uninjured but was taken to KEMH via ambulance for observations."

The driver was later released from hospital. The car was badly damaged.
