Commissiong named advisor on black males to the Premier

A consultant to investigate race relations and particularly the plight of young black males in Bermuda will be reporting to Premier Ewart Brown on those issues with a view to implementing programmes and initiatives to address the predicament of that particular group — starting from today.

Rolfe Commissiong has been appointed to the role of consultant to the Premier.

"He will conduct a full review of the Young Black Male Study, undertake in-depth research on the plight of young black males in Bermuda and provide recommendations with respect to implementing programmes and initiatives to address the current predicament of this targeted group," said Scott Simmons, Press Secretary to the Premier.

Mr. Commissiong will work under the direction of the head of Civil Service and concentrate on race relations matters.
