Discharge for disruptive man after first arrest
A man accused of threatening behaviour claimed he had one drink at the Swizzle Inn and then 'couldn't remember anything'.
Antoine Mouchette, 42, said the only thing he could remember was someone taking his keys from him. A few minutes later he was seen wandering in the middle of Blue Hole Hill, halting all the traffic.
Mouchette, of Warwick, pleaded guilty at Magistrates' Court yesterday to threatening behaviour and resisting arrest at the Swizzle Inn, St George's, on September 21.
Carrington Mahoney, prosecuting, said staff at the hostelry alerted Police at 10.40 p.m. to Mouchette's behaviour. "The officer saw the defendant in the road, where the traffic was stopped. The defendant was shouting and using obscenities," said Mr. Mahoney.
"He said: 'You officers don't know who you're messing with'."
Mr. Mahoney said that when approached by the officer, Mouchette "raised his wrist, clenched his fist and closed down the gap between him and the Police officer".
"The officer felt he was about to be assaulted and sprayed him with pepper spray," said Mr. Mahoney. Mouchette was then arrested but a struggle ensued and he "kicked out" as he was put in the back of the Police car. Yesterday, he told the court: "I went down the Swizzle Inn and had one drink and after that, I don't remember. Someone took my keys and what happened after that I don't remember."
The court heard Mouchette had no previous convictions. Acting magistrate Juan Wolffe gave him a year's conditional discharge.
