Man faces drug charges

A Jamaican man yesterday appeared in court accused of conspiring to import cannabis and heroin into Bermuda.

Andrew Anthony Laing is charged with three counts of conspiracy, between August 1 and October 6, 2006 to import cannabis.

He also faces a charge of conspiracy to import diamorphine, between September 29 and October 6, and a fifth charge of assaulting Police, on October 6, in Sandys.

The defendant appeared in Magistrates Court yesterday and was not required to enter pleas to the charges.

Laing, 33, of Ocho Rios, was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned until November 28.
