Mould-sick CedarBridge teacher moved to another school
Former CedarBridge Academy teacher Ulama Finn-Hendrickson has been reassigned to a school for children with behavioural problems.
Mrs. Finn-Hendrickson, who has an allergy which caused her to become ill while a teacher at mould-contaminated CedarBridge, began work at The Educational Centre (TEC) earlier this month after a year-and-a-half out of the classroom.
The literacy teacher won a legal battle against the Ministry of Education in February. A Supreme Court judge ruled that her pay should not have been stopped in January 2007 when she refused to return to CedarBridge after a clean-up of the mould.
Mr. Justice Kawaley said she remained employed by Government at all times and that the Ministry failed to carry out proper disciplinary procedures.
The 55-year-old mother-of-four was recently chosen for membership in Kappa Delta Pi at Northcentral University, an institution offering accredited online degrees.
Membership is given to those who exhibit the ideals of scholarship, high personal standards and promise in teaching and allied professions.
