Newstead Belmont Hills opens

Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort and Spa owner/developer Kevin Petty cuts the ribbon to formally open the hotel.

The Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort and Spa became the first hotel to open on the Island in 35 years yesterday.

Developer Kevin Petty saw his dreams come true as he cut the ribbon and announced the opening of the first all-suite facility in Bermuda.

On hand were Hollywood stars Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones, who call Bermuda home, the Premier, affluent members of society, the entire staff along with the resort's first guests.

Situated on Harbour Road in Paget the full service resort destination offers amenities such as an 18-hole golf course, located nearby at Belmont, a world class spa, two tennis courts, two restaurants, room service, concierge service, housekeeping service and bell service.

It combines traditional Bermuda architecture with new Bermuda design, keeping the old world charm of a small boutique hotel and cottage community. But by far one of the most breathtaking features of the hotel is the terraced outdoor area with an infinity pool overlooking Hamilton Harbour.

It will also be home to Bermuda's French restaurant, Beau Rivage, which will by run by Jean Claude, an award-winning chef who won 1998 French Chef of the Year.

And Mr. Petty believes the success will be in the details. Guests at the facility will be able to travel to and from Hamilton by a private water ferry, which will run throughout the morning and evening.

They will also be entitled to a complimentary round of golf every day at Belmont Hill.

And through an exclusive arrangement, Newstead guests will be able to use the Elbow Beach Hotel's private beach facilities, a complimentary shuttle service will take guest to the nearby resort.

And individuals will receive even more perks if they pay between $129,000 to $360,000 for fractional ownership of the cottages, which amounts to eight weeks throughout the year.

Their preferred grocery items will be in their refrigerator upon arrival and any personal items they have left in storage will be placed in their rooms.

Their tie-off times will be booked and clubs cleaned before their arrival.

At the Belmont Hills golf club they will have access to the exclusive Owners' Lounge and preferential service from the golf pros.

Premier Ewart Brown said: "I've talked about the Platnium Period and I believe the opening of this facility is the first concrete evidence that this period has begun
