Post Office reports getting overdue mail

A piece of mail sent to the Island from Jersey on December 27, 2005 only made it to local shores last week as Bermuda continues to receive long overdue cards and letters.

In a press release, the Post Office said the latest shipment of backdated mail had arrived from Canada, the Caribbean, the UK and the US.

"The public has been assured by the Postmaster General that all back-dated mail should be delivered to customers this week," the release said.

"The BPO will continue to address the issue of mail delays with distant administrations to ensure that mail destined for Bermuda arrives quickly and consistently."

The Postmaster General apologised for the delays.
