Rights forum to have open topic night
A lawyer, a senator and the executive director of Amnesty International Bermuda will be speakers at the last in a series of four public forums on human rights being held in Hamilton on Thursday. And the public is being encouraged to come along to take part in the discussions and to send in comments and questions to be covered on the night.
In the lead up to the forum a radio discussion with one of the speakers, Amnesty International Bermuda executive director Lucy Attride-Stirling, along with a Human Rights Commissioner, a representative of Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda and Lisa Currin, of the National Policy on Disability, will be broadcast today at lunchtime.
The last in the series of public forums takes place again at the Cathedral Hall in Church Street and this time features Mrs. Attride-Stirling, lawyer Elizabeth Christopher and Senator Wayne Caines as speakers.
There will also be an opportunity for questions and opinions from the public. Written submissions can be made at the HRC office while e-mails can be sent to hrcdba[AT]ibl.bm.
A radio discussion takes place on VSB’s Shirley Dill show today at 1.30 p.m. when guests will include Lisa Currin of the National Policy on Disability, a representative of Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda, and Human Rights Commissioner Kamal Worrell, and Mrs. Attride-Stirling, who is to speak at the forum. The forum this Thursday takes place between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
