A gasoline carrier was due to make a detour via the Island last night after a crew member injured his eye.
The Filipino man onboard the Kriti Champion, bound from Amsterdam to Brownsville, Texas, was set to be picked up at the pilot boat station in the East End at about 10 p.m. to be taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre received the distress call from the vessel just after 1 p.m. yesterday when it was some 112 miles from Bermuda.
A duty officer said the St. David pilot boat was likely to be the vessel used to pick up the crew member.
