Police have made three arrests in the hunt for the killer of Matthew Clarke.

Two men were taken into custody at the weekend, following the arrest of a 32-year-old man on Thursday.

Detectives have not named the suspects but they are described as: a 32-year-old man from Southampton; a 23-year-old man from Pembroke; and a 17-year-old man from Warwick.

Mr. Clarke, 31, was attacked in his home in North Shore Road, Pembroke, on Wednesday. The father-of-two, a songwriter and producer, was reportedly stabbed to death.

Police have not confirmed the cause of death or weapon used, but say they are treating Mr. Clarke's death as murder.

Detectives are particularly keen to talk to members of the public who may have seen "two or three men inside of a blue-coloured open-back truck" in the North Shore Road area or North Hamilton, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Detective Chief Inspector Antoine Daniels, head of the Serious Crime Unit, says officers are "making steady progress" in the investigation - in part due to the willingness of witnesses to come forward.

"A number of valuable witness statements have been recorded which have greatly assisted investigators in their efforts to resolve this tragic and unnecessary killing," he said.

"Police are in the process of preparing a file of the evidence gathered to date for review by the Director of Public Prosecutions and his staff.

"As the officer directly responsible for leading this murder investigation, I would like to use this opportunity to thank all of those persons who have come forward thus far and assisted officers in their pursuit of the perpetrators responsible for committing this violent and unnecessary act."

Det Chief Insp Daniels said yesterday: "As I have stated previously, the Bermuda Police Service's capacity to deal with crime depends to a large extent upon its relationship with the community. In this particular case, it appears that the public have now become aware of the need for all citizens to assist in the war against crime with a view to making Bermuda a safer and more secure place in which to live."

Police are now appealing to any members of the public who were in the North Shore Road area or North Hamilton between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Detectives say they are "particularly interested" in speaking to anyone who may have seen a group of men travelling in a blue truck.
