Woman, 90, sends intruder packing
A 90-year-old woman chased a would-be thief out of her Paget home.
The woman was sitting in her living room when a man entered her home and took the house keys before he ran off.
The incident occurred at about 2.15 p.m. on Thursday.
The grand-daughter of the woman — who did not wish to be named — said: “She is quite upset about it. She heard a noise and went to investigate. That is when she saw a man standing in her home. She asked him what he was doing and he ran off, I think he was more startled than she was.
“She’s a spunky 90-year-old woman but she is still shaken up about it and will now keep her doors locked at all times, even when she is home.
“It’s horrible that old people should feel like prisoners in their own homes. “
The woman called Police to her home shortly after the incident. Police said the man was wearing a brown sweater and was about 5ft 6in. He left the home on the back of his friend’s bike. Police have urged seniors to be mindful of individuals who appear on their premises and to keep their homes secure.
