Detectives seek information on 'suspicious' death of Trinidadian

A renewed call has been made for anyone with information about the death of IT worker Marcus Gibbings to come forward and speak with detectives investigating the suspicious death of the 32-year-old at an apartment in Devonshire.

Few details of the incident have been made public as Bermuda Police Service attempt to piece together what took place in the apartment in Derwent Lane last Thursday.

Trinidadian Mr. Gibbings was found dead in what have been described as "suspicious circumstances". A Trinidad newspaper has since reported on a possible altercation between the telecommunications technician and another person at the property shortly before he was stabbed.

Mr. Gibbings is also reported to have been involved in divorce proceedings with his wife who lives in Trinidad.

Police have yet to reveal officially how Mr. Gibbings died or if they are looking for any suspects but have not ruled out foul play. The investigation is being headed by Acting Inspector Robert Cardwell and Acting Inspector Terrence Maxwell.

Mr. Gibbings worked for Hamilton-based company CSS and is believed to have lived in Derwent Lane for the past two years.

Bermuda Police Service is asking that anyone who spoke to Mr. Gibbings either on Wednesday or Thursday, or has any information about the matter, call the Serious Crime Unit on 299-4315 or 299-4239 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline 1-800-623-8477.
