Scouts gather for annual parade
Scores of scouts and cubs marked St. George's Day with a parade yesterday — and celebrated a landmark anniversary of their own.
The 18th, 19th and 22nd scout and cub groups took part in the proceedings at the Centenary United Methodist Church, Collector's Hill, Smith's, to honour the patron saint of England.
The 19th Bermuda Cub Pack, led by Tim Smith, was also celebrating its 50th anniversary and hung a banner outside the church to mark the occasion.
There were 53 scouts and cubs at the annual march and many performed readings at a "scouts' own" church service.
Bermuda's Chief Scout Vincent John stepped down from his role and Leonard (Shinah) Simons stepped down as Bermuda's Chief Commissioner for Scouts. Scouter Larry Burchall is the new Chief Commissioner (designate).
