Spirit repairs

Sailing vessel Spirit pulled into Bermuda for repairs yesterday after taking on water 200 miles west of the Island.

The 65-foot boat was escorted into Penno's Wharf, in St. George's Harbour, by Government tugboat Faithful.

Spirit, which had four people on board, was on its way to the Dutch Caribbean island of St. Maarten from Norfolk, Virginia, when it encountered a problem with its keel. Seamen contacted Bermuda Harbour Radio, which dispatched>Faithful. The tugboat arrived on the scene at 8.50 a.m. on Tuesday. Spirit was expected to undergo repairs before either continuing to St. Maarten or returning to Virginia.
