Teen, 15, sent overseas after bike accident
A 15-year-old girl was rushed off the Island after suffering serious facial injuries in a bike accident.
The teenager was riding an auxiliary cycle near the junction of Middle Road and Watlington Lane in Devonshire when she collided with a wall early on Saturday morning.
A Police spokesman said: "This collision has been the subject of a host of speculation in the community. However, there is nothing at this point to suggest that anything untoward has taken place and all the injuries sustained are consistent with a road traffic collision."
The Royal Gazette understands that after the girl collided with the wall her helmet came off and she stuck her head on an object when she fell. She was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and then air-ambulanced off the Island. She is currently being treated in a medical facility in Massachusetts.
