A person who is awarded this position has worked hard to gain his or her

Departments. You would also have to take your job seriously and be a role model for your fellow employees. If I were Police Commissioner, I would first pledge to do the best I can for my country, myself and the other Police staff would have to set an example to the people of Bermuda. I would like for Bermudians to join the Police Department, men and women. There are many jobs they can do. The Reserve programme or train to be a Police Officer. I would set up a junior programme for Middle School students so they could get an idea of what the Police Department is like. The school could bring them on tours to the Police Station in their area. The Police Training Department could also go to different schools and have the police talk about their job duties. As Police Commissioner, I not only have Policemen to deal with, also the Traffic Wardens. The decisions I make are not done alone. I talk to my other staff members. I would like to have more police patrolling the streets. In some areas I will have them walk the beat more. People feel safe when they see police driving or riding in their area. The drug laws should be a lot harder.

They would not be fined. I'd send them to prison. Too many people are hanging on the streets in different areas. My staff of Policemen would be told if they see this sort of thing have the guys or the girls move on off the streets. I would set up a building in their Parish where they could go to have different types of entertainment, play football, basketball, or learn something. You have to work with people, and by me being Police Commissioner, I hope to make a difference. PHOTO Runner-up, Alton Trott, of Sandys Middle School MINI SUPPLEMENT SUP
