ACE wins thumbs-up for daycare
setting up a daycare centre for 20 of its employees' children.
The Development Applications Board has allowed ACE Insurance Ltd. to change the use of Woodbourne Guest House to a daycare centre.
The company has advertised for a nursery school teacher as it plans to lease the nearby guest house for the children under primary school age.
A total of four teachers and an administrator were expected to be hired to work in the centre which will remain open year round from 8.15 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Owners of neighbouring Oxford Guest House objected to the development, claiming it may cause noise, traffic congestion, and endanger children as there was no walkway for parents taking their children to the centre.
They could not be reached yesterday.
And it stressed that the daycare centre was for the exclusive use of ACE staff and that its hours of operation would be restricted to Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m..
It also said approval was granted on the understanding that on-site parking would be provided by ACE at their 30 Woodbourne Avenue site.
