Police spokesman Sgt. Roseanda Jones said: "The incident happened around 8pm as the tourists were riding south along Paynters Road in Hamilton Parish.

"The suspect rode up from behind the victim and attempted to snatch the bag.'' Sgt. Jones added there was a "tugging match'' while the bikes were still travelling but the suspect was unsuccessful and sped off empty handed.

CRIME CRM A 40-year-old Pembroke man was recovering in hospital yesterday after he was beaten on Saturday.

Police were called to an area off Marsh Folly Road, at around 11 a.m., and found the man suffering from severe wounds and bruising to his head, chest and back.

He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A 41-year-old Pembroke man has been arrested in connection with the incident, according to Police.
