Banned until 1999
guilty to three traffic offences when he appeared on Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Macray Bulford of Beacon Hill admitted speeding at 72 kilometres per hour, driving while disqualified and dangerous driving.
Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy told the Court that at 3.15 a.m. on July 18 Bulford was seen speeding on Palmetto Road and was checked through radar.
"Police attempted to stop Bulford,'' said Insp. Duffy. "He turned and looked at them but did not stop.
"He then turned on Glebe Road and slid in front of an oncoming car. Bulford got off the ground and ran off. He was later found on Palmetto Road.'' Insp. Duffy added that Bulford had previous convictions for traffic offences.
Magistrate the Wor. John Judge fined Bulford $750 for driving while disqualified and sentenced him to prison for 12 months suspended for two years in addition to taking him off the road for a further two years.
He also fined him $300 and disqualified him for another two years for speeding and fined him $350 -- for a total of $1,400 -- for driving in a matter dangerous and disqualified him for five years.
All three disqualifications will run concurrently. The five year ban will start in January 1994, when a previous disqualification ends.
Bulford will come back on the road in 1999.
