Bascome in fresh appeal to landlords
and tenants to show each other some Christmas goodwill.
Mr. Bascome spoke about the need for better communication between homeowners and their tenants during Friday's Motion to Adjourn at the House of Assembly.
The Pembroke East MP said: "Housing, right now, is in a very critical state within our Island.
"I hope landlords can show some special compassion and tenants should also assist and communicate with their landlords.'' Mr. Bascome also said the Progressive Labour Party Government would strive to improve living conditions for elderly people in rest homes.
"Some of our rest homes are in a deplorable condition,'' he said.
"But we will make sure our seniors can live the golden years of their lives in dignity.'' Earlier, Shadow Immigration Minister Michael Dunkley denied claims from the PLP's Randy Horton that he had criticised the make-up of the new Immigration Board.
He claimed Mr. Horton had subjected him to a "personal attack'' and apologised to Minister Paula Cox if she "thought I was criticising the Board''.
"The people on the Board deserve the chance to do their duty,'' he added.
